
Fire crews attended reports of a chimney fire at Armagh Public Library this morning (Friday).
Smoke could be seen billowing from the roof of the landmark Georgian building on Market Square shortly after 9am.
The blaze broke out in the chimney towards the rear of the building facing St Patrick’s COI Cathedral.
NIFRS confirmed two appliances from Armagh Fire Station attended alongside one appliance from Keady Fire Station.
Firefighters used thermal image cameras and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental and the incident was dealt with by 9.58am.
