Farmer’s horror as flock of sheep ‘savagely’ attacked by dogs in Armagh

Sheep worrying

A flock of sheep were savagely attacked by dogs in Armagh early on Friday morning.

Well-known farmer, James Speers, shared the distressing images and urged caution to other farmers to be vigilant.

He also pleaded with dog owners to control their pets – using the images to highlight his point.

“Attention dog owners please see the pictures below,” he wrote on social media. “Dogs have caused serious distress and injury to a flock of store lambs at land on the Killylea Road, Co Armagh.

“I have reported this incident to the PSNI and Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s dog warden.

“All dog owners need to be aware that chasing animals, whether it’s sheep or cattle, can cause serious injuries, stress and even death to both the livestock and dogs.

“Please ensure your dog is kept under control when out walking in the countryside and kept securely at night.”

Anyone who witnesses a dog worrying or attacking livestock is encouraged to report this to the Council’s Dog Warden by emailing eheatlh@armaghbanbridgecraigavon.gov.uk or telephoning 0300 0300 900.
