Family’s relief as six-week flooding problem resolved after Armagh I story

Radius Housing apologise for delay and send in contractor

There was a happy ending for one Armagh family last week when a long-running flooding problem was resolved.

Rita Gilmore, who lives in Barrack Hill with her adult son, had been without hot water since Christmas after a pipe burst in the cloakroom.

Damp and mould had also spread to the living room and bathroom as a result of the leaking water.

Ms Gilmore told Armagh I last Wednesday she was at her “wits’ end”.

She said that despite numerous calls to Radius Housing, the housing association which owns the property, nothing was being done.

Ian Liggett, a community pastor at Vibe church, said he had had also called the housing association “every day for the past three weeks” but with no success.

However, after Armagh I contacted Radius Housing on Wednesday afternoon, things started to move quickly and a statement came through.

A spokesperson apologised for the delay, saying the matter had taken longer to resolve than anticipated, and that a contractor would be on site the following day (Thursday).

And Mr Liggett confirmed that the contractor did indeed arrive as promised and that the work had been completed, much to the family’s relief.

A good job all round!
