Extra festive cheer for elderly as businesses back Redrock Tuesday Club hamper initiative

'These hampers truly make a difference to older people’s lives'

Redrock Tuesday Club members received hampers thanks to the generosity of local businesses.

Elderly residents across the Armagh area have had some festive cheer thanks to local businesses who donated goods for some very special Christmas hampers.

And Redrock Tuesday Club – which was behind the initiative – has said a massive ‘thank-you’ to everybody who contributed to their hamper project in any way.

In all an incredible 98 hampers containing food and various consumables were distributed to their members.

Speaking on the project, Redrock Tuesday Club founder Mervyn Dougan said: “Over the Christmas and winter period these hampers truly make a difference to older people’s lives, not just in their physical contents, but also just letting them know that there are people who care and are thinking of them.”

Those who kindly donated and helped with items for the hampers were Whites Oats Tandragee, Lidl Armagh, Killeen Hardware, Kerry Foods, Moy Park, Boots Chemists Markethill, Portadown, and Newry, Gordons Chemists Portadown, Roy Corry (apples), EuroSpar Armagh, Coca Cola, Pinkertons, and the Consumer Council.
