After a year on the market a popular Blackwatertown restaurant is now set to go under the hammer in an online auction.
The Portmor bar and restaurant, on Main Street, was announced for sale in April 2024 just weeks after the passing of its owner, Nigel Reah.
The venue has remained open for business under the management of Nigel’s family including wife, Mary, daughters Marie-Claire and Marysia and son John-Paul… and it will continue to do so until a buyer is found.

However, with no buyer yet secured to date, the business is now in a “pre-auction marketing” phase under the agency of CPS property.
The building includes a well-established and reputable bar and restaurant business as a going concern, as well as a four bedroom apartment on the first floor.
The detached two-story premises is described as “circa 6,349 sq ft”, which has been further extended to the rear by way of a single-storey covered with a “mix of pitched corrugated and flat roof”.
The bar and lounge area to the front is fitted with a “feature” wooden bar, seating booths and tables. To the rear is the restaurant floor and toilet facilities; with the main kitchen and an ancillary area accessed off to the side.
The first floor – circa 1,820 sqft – was previously a four bedroom residential accommodation but is today used for staff, storage and as a service area.
The agent does note that this area has the “potential to be converted back to residential use” subject to any required statutory planning approval.
Described by the agent as “profitable”, the purchase may offer a fantastic opportunity for those within the industry or someone looking to enter the industry to take on a “thriving business”.
The property will enter into auction with a guide price of £340,000 via the online bidding platform ‘iamsold’ unless sold privately in the interim.
It is also subject to a an undisclosed reserve price which iamsold explain is “generally no more than 10% in excess of the starting bid”.
A date has not yet been confirmed for the auction, but interested parties can contact CPS Property or visit ww.iamsold.com for more information.
