Armagh Courthouse

A Darkley man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Richard Kenneth Dickson, 39, of Tullynawood Road, appeared in the dock at Newry Crown Court for an arraignment hearing on Tuesday (November 5).

He is charged that he had in his possession a firearm or imitation firearm with intent to cause another person to believe that unlawful violence would be used against them or another person.

While the facts of the case were not outlined, the court heard the incident is alleged to have occurred on July 5 this year.

During the brief court hearing, Dickson spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth and to deny the single charge he faces.

His Honour Judge Ramsey KC set the trial date as January 20, 2025, with a pre-trial review to take place on December 10, 2024.

Dickson was released on continuing bail.
