The Armagh senior county final, which was due to take place this afternoon, has been postponed as high winds wreak havoc.

The County Board said that “due to high winds and the ongoing weather warning”, the Clash of Clans – which pitted Lurgan rivals Clan na Gael and Clan Eireann together – has been postponed until next Saturday, October 26 at 6pm.

The game had been due to take place at the Athletic Grounds in Armagh.

The county remains under a yellow warning for winds until midnight on Sunday while an amber warning has been issued for Fermanagh, Tyrone, Derry and north Antrim.

There are fallen trees all over with reports on the Damolly Road, Newry, as well as the Dundrum Road, Tassagh – between the viaduct and Tassagh Bridge.

There is a tree partially blocking the road on the Castleblayney Road in Keady.

A police spokesperson in Armagh said: “We are currently responding to a number of road traffic collisions and fallen trees across the district.

“A yellow weather warning is currently in place across County Armagh until midnight. Please exercise caution on the roads, leave a safe distance to the vehicle in front and be prepared for hazards and fallen trees on the road.

“We will be working closely with other emergency service colleagues along with statutory agencies. Please only travel if necessary.”
