The Co Armagh Vintage Vehicle Club are set to hold their annual vintage rally in the coming weeks.
The event will take place on Saturday, August 3 in Gosford Forest Park, Markethill, with entries open for vehicles and machinery.
Funds raised will go to the charity Dementia NI, which holds a special place in the club’s heart as their president and esteemed founder member Robert Lester suffers from the condition.
The club began life back in 1975, when it was founded by like-minded people to share their enthusiasm for vintage/classic vehicles and machinery. Some of those original members are still involved in the club today.
The first event, held by the club 49 years ago, was so successful and raised so much money that it was decided a donation would be made to a local charity.
Over the years the club has endeavoured to keep that tradition, having raised thousands of pounds for charitable causes.
This year’s event is set to play host to exhibitors from all six counties in Northern Ireland, plus many visitors from the south.
There will be a large selection of cars, tractors, commercial vehicles, stationary engines, a rare breeds display and a threshing demonstration, which is a particularly popular item.
Craigavon Gun Dog Club will also be doing their popular gun dog display which, alongside the exciting lawnmower racing, means there will be something for everyone.
Music will be provided by Kenny Archer and there will be on-site catering, including ice-cream.
Last October, the club held their Harvest Rally after the main event was cancelled in the summer due to conditions on the ground at Gosford Forest Park.

Janet Treanor, club secretary, said: “The Harvest Rally went well and it was great to be able to hold it after the disappointment of the main rally being cancelled.
“This year is looking very positive at the moment so hopefully the weather will play ball with us. Our rally in Gosford is our biggest event in the year and one we very much look forward to.”
