A Co Armagh alt-pop singer-songwriter is set to release her highly anticipated debut Extended Play (EP) album this month!

Derrynoose woman, Fya Fox will release her highly anticipated debut EP ‘Bittersweet’ on October 23, marking a significant new chapter for the Whelan’s Ones To Watch alumna and VIP Magazine ‘Rising Star’.

Written over the past two years, Bittersweet is a deeply personal collection of songs documenting a transformative period in Fya’s life, from becoming a mother, experiencing a motor accident, to rediscovering herself both personally and creatively following an almost three-year hiatus from releasing music.

Across five tracks, the EP explores moments of grief, love and growth, spotlighting the intimate songwriting that has defined her return to music this year.

The EP arrives after extensive praise from RTÉ 2FM, RTÉ Radio 1, Hot Press, BBC Radio Ulster and more for the release of comeback single ‘Sweet Goodbye’ (RTÉ 2FM Track of the Week), a poignant reflection on loss and missing loved ones during life’s biggest moments, ‘Oversized Denim Jacket (RTÉ Radio 1 Recommends List) which captured the overwhelm of adjusting to a new chapter while staying true to yourself, and ‘Hometown’, a delicate release reminiscing on life’s familiar faces.

On the EP Fya says: “Most of the EP was scratch ideas and melodies that I wrote at home and that inspired the tracks to be less synthetic.

“I wanted real instruments to be present across this project and lean into a more acoustic sound.

“From opening the EP with ‘Sweet Goodbye’ after the birth of my little girl and missing out on sharing this moment with passed loved ones I admired, to ending it with ‘My Loves’ – a song hoping I can be the person she looks up to – the EP feels like a full circle moment.

“My daughter has brought out the best version of me and when she is old enough to listen back, I hope she is proud”.

Known for her earnest songwriting and powerful vocals, Fya Fox continues to carve out her own space within Ireland’s pop landscape.

Fya plays Whelan’s on Saturday, October 24, launching her debut EP Bittersweet. Tickets are on sale now from whelanslive.com
