Emergency services were called to the scene of a dramatic car fire in Armagh city centre in the early hours of this morning (Monday).
While dramatic, the cause of the fire on Barrack Street – right outside the Armagh I office – was believed to have been accidental.
A police spokesperson said: “B Section received an early morning call about a car on fire in Armagh. As a result our NIFRS colleagues attended and managed to safely extinguish the fire. It would appear to have been an electrical fault. On to the next call we go.”
One fire crew from Armagh Fire Station attended.
An NIFRS spokesperson added: “Firefighters were called to a report of a vehicle alight on Barrack Street, Armagh.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using specialist equipment extinguished the fire. The incident was dealt with by 1:03am. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental ignition.
