Two new businesses – a coffee shop and hot food takeaway – are being planned for Armagh.
Leading coffee chain Caffe Nero – which is now 20 years in business – is planning to open a new outlet in Armagh City.
The business already has outlets across the Province, including various locations across Belfast and at The Quays in Newry, at Ballymena, Bangor and a host of others.
The decision to come to Armagh follows the success of other outlets and coffee franchises in the area, including Costa Coffee at the Spires Retail Park and Starbucks at Craigavon.
Meanwhile, a vacant property at Barrack Street in Armagh could get a new lease of life as a hot food takeaway.
The former Armagh Books shop at 6 Barrack Street – which previously had included a coffee shop – has been on the market for some time.
Now a planning application has been submitted to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council for consideration.
It is seeking approval for a change of use from a shop to “hot food carry-out (ground floor) and alterations to front elevation”.
The intended tenant is not known at this stage but a decision on the application – submitted by a leading Belfast-based property agent – is expected around the summer of this year.
