Armagh’s champion fundraiser greases the wheels in aid of Gaza and Ukraine’s war-torn children

Armagh’s champion fundraiser 78-year-old, Willie Nugent is greasing the wheels for yet another charity cycle!

Willie – who has now raised more than £1 million for various charities – will be making his way from Armagh to St Patrick’s Chair in Co Tyrone to help the children of Ukraine and Gaza.

He will cover a distance of 30 miles on his journey scheduled for June 10.

Legend has it, if you sit on St Patrick’s chair and make a wish it will come true and Willie’s noble wish is for “peace in the Middle East and for the children there to grow up safe, loved and free from fear”.

All money raised will be going to help UNICEF – a charity which Willie says is doing “great work” in Ukraine and Gaza.

Said Willie: “As I’m cycling along through the quiet and peaceful Armagh and Tyrone countryside, my thoughts will be with the children of Ukraine and Gaza, cold, hungry and huddling in darkness with no end in sight. We don’t know how lucky we are”.

A UNICEF spokesperson said: “Every child in Ukraine and Gaza have known nothing but war, with potential lifelong impacts on their wellbeing and development. In recent days we’ve seen homes, schools, water supplies and hospitals damaged. We need your help to make sure that child health and protection services are sustained and families have clean water and nutritious food. Please support Willie’s cycle.”

You can make a donation to Willie’s Just Giving page here with all proceeds going directly to UNICEF.
