An Armagh woman suffered a fractured leg after an attack by a man she met on a dating website, a court has heard.

Graham Rainey, 44, of Ashbeg Road, Dungannon, is alleged to have attacked his victim after the pair went back to her house following a number of drinks at an Armagh bar on Sunday.

A sitting of Armagh Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday heard how they had met up after an exchange on the dating website Plenty of Fish.

It was at the victim’s home that the accused is alleged to have kicked and stamped on the woman’s leg.

Rainey then left the house following the alleged incident. He is also accused of causing damage to a number of items inside the house.

The court heard how the victim then went to bed but was forced to call an ambulance in the middle of the night as she began suffering from pains in her leg.

A subsequent x-ray at Craigavon Area Hospital found that she had sustained a fractured leg.

Rainey’s defence argued that there were no medical records available as of yet and that the injury to the leg could have been self-inflicted.

Rainey is due to appear back in court next month to face the charges.

He was refused bail.
