Armagh man who died in tragic Monaghan Road collision named locally

The collision happened close to Milford at around 7.15am on Wednesday

The man who died in an accident on the outskirts of Armagh early this morning has been named locally as Edwin Kennedy.

Mr Kennedy, who was married to Hilary, lived at Kilcreevy Road in Armagh.

He was the driver of a car which was in involved in a collision with a lorry at Monaghan Road, close to Milford, at around 7.15am.

The road was closed throughout the day and reopened after 5pm on Wednesday.

The deceased man worked for Thompson Fuels.

Mr Kennedy was a brother to Sylvia, Barbara and William.

Funeral arrangements are yet to be finalised.

However, donations in lieu are being directed to First Keady (The Temple) Presbyterian Church, c/o K G Cheevers and Son, Funeral Directors, 28 Dobbin Street, Armagh, BT61 7QQ.

PSNI Inspector Beckett earlier appealed for information after the tragic collision.

He said: ““Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone with any information or who may have dashcam footage available to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 187 15/01/20.”

Deepest sympathy is extended to Mr Kennedy’s wife, sisters, brother and family circle at this time.
