Armagh Magistrates' Court

An Armagh man accused of biting two police officers and pushing another during an incident in the city on Monday has been released on bail.

Darren Deveraux, of Hamiltonsbawn Road, appeared before Armagh Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Newry, via videolink from Musgrave Police Station on Tuesday morning.

The 36-year-old man has been charged with three counts of assault on police and two counts of criminal damage all stemming from the same domestic incident on Monday, September 4.

A police constable said she was able to connect Deveraux to the charges and that police had no objection to bail providing he could find a suitable address.

District Judge Laura Marshall granted the defendant bail providing he could find a suitable address and adjourned the case for four weeks to allow the prosecution to prepare a file.

Deveraux is due to appear back before Armagh Magistrates’ Court on October 3.
