Armagh man (42) accused of sexual grooming and attempting to meet child

Courts

An Armagh man has appeared in court accused of possessing indecent imagery and attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming.

Michael Woods, from Dernalea Road, Armagh, is also accused of, between May 2022 and March 2023, attempting to sexually communicate with a child for sexual gratification.

The 42-year-old is charged with possession of cocaine.

A police officer aware of the facts of the case told Dungannon Magistrates’ Court all charges could be connected.

Woods spoke only to confirm his identity and that he understood the charges against him.

Deputy District Judge Austin Kennedy set bail at £500 and ordered Woods to have no contact with any children, without the prior approval of Social Services, and to refrain from all social media usage.

The judge warned: “It’s important the conditions are adhered to at all times. Police will be checking.”

Woods is to return to court on October 16.
