It’s certainly going to be a summer – and year – to remember for Armagh man, Joe McElroy.

Just 10 days after achieving legendary status in the Orchard County with ‘that block’ and Sam Maguire, the Armagh Harps man tied the knot with the love of his life, personal trainer Aoife McKenna.

The loved-up couple said their ‘I dos’ in St Peters RC Church in Collegelands earlier today (Wednesday) before making the journey down the road to celebrate, with friends, family – and teammates – in the lavish Tankardstown House in Co Meath.

And of course, special guest on the day was Sam Maguire himself.

It may not have been had it not been for the heroics of the St Paul’s Bessbrook teacher who, with mere seconds left on the clock, leapt onto the rising boot of Paul Conroy, thwarting Galway’s last attempt at goal and all but ensuring Armagh’s second ever All-Ireland title.

The people of Armagh will thank him for years to come.

And all at Armagh I wish the lovely couple a lifetime of happiness together.
