Armagh business and community group launch Secret Santa Appeal

The cut off date for donations is December 6 to allow time to facilitate the present distribution in time for Christmas

This year, West Armagh Consortium and Philip White Tyres have teamed up to organise a very special children’s Christmas present appeal.

Known as Armagh Secret Santa Appeal, the team are asking for public donations of new toys and items suitable for boys and girls from infancy through to adolescence.

Toys will be placed into categories and distributed to families in need who have filled in the appeal form.

The appeal is open to anyone living in the Armagh city area and the team are encouraging the public to share the toy appeal form with friends and family who may be in need of little support.

Speaking of what inspired the secret Santa appeal, Liam White, of Philip White Tyres said: “This is a chance to give back to the local community, as no child should wake up without a present on Christmas morning.

“With the cost of living crisis, families are vulnerable now more than ever and this appeal is a chance to try and help as many people in time for Christmas.”

Local businesses have been getting involved by donating vouchers, money and gifts including from Mark McSherry Barbers, Cordelia’s Chippy, Advanced Flooring Systems and Bagel Bean.

Support for the appeal has also been backed by Armagh GAA and Armagh City FC.

Drop off points to donate toys can be found at Sherry’s Field and Philip White Tyres, Station Road.

The cut off date for donations is December 6 to allow time to facilitate the present distribution in time for Christmas.
