A special night of live music will take place this August in memory of much-loved Armagh man Matthew Beatty, with all proceeds going to Action Mental Health.
The event, titled ‘Amped for Awareness – In Loving Memory of Matthew Beatty’, will be held on Thursday, August 7 at 8pm in the Hole in the Wall Bar, Armagh.
Matthew, a 27-year-old father of three, died suddenly in March, devastating his partner Klaudia and his three young children Violet, Phoenix and Sebastian. His sudden passing was also felt among family, friends, and the wider community.
His family hope the upcoming event will not only raise vital funds for mental health support, but also shine a light on the importance of talking and seeking help.
Matthew’s sister, Samantha, told Armagh I: “Losing a sibling is something you never think is going to happen at this age. You see all the horror online of young ones losing their lives and you never think it’s going to be yourself waking up to the horrifying news.
“My brother was the most gentle, kind hearted soul who only ever wanted to be loved. He had a way of making you feel so valued and heard.
“That special gift he had is something I want to continue on. I want to ensure that others are heard and noone ever has to suffer in silence.
“This event, to me and the rest of the family, is a way of honouring him, remembering and showcasing how much he was truly loved and how much of an impact he’s had on us all. It’s my way of keeping his name alive.”
Admission to the night is free, and attendees can expect a brilliant lineup with three acoustic acts preceding two headline performances. A raffle will also take place on the night, with all proceeds going directly to Action Mental Health.
