Road users should expect some delays and are advised to allow additional time when travelling in the vicinity of the works and are asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions

Essential safety maintenance works have commenced on an arterial Armagh route set to last until the end of the week.

On October 22, Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins announced the £100,000 investment on the A28 Armagh to Newry Road between Armagh and Markethill.

The works will be carried out between 9.30am and 4.30pm from Monday October 27 until Friday October 31 2025, with work taking place during the school half term break when traffic volumes are lower to reduce the impact on the travelling public.

The work will include defect repairs, large scale patching, road markings and drainage works.

In order to carry out the works safely, it will be necessary to implement a daytime road closure between 9.30am and 4.30pm from Monday October 27 until Friday October 31, 2025.

Minister Kimmins said: “This investment in these essential maintenance works will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users and demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities.

“I would like to thank residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out.”
