Appeal for information following death of 56-year-old man in RTC

Police have reissued an appeal for information following a fatal road traffic collision on the A1 on Tuesday, 1 December.

A 56-year-old man died following the two vehicle collision which occurred around 5.30pm between Newry and Loughbrickland.

A silver Mazda 3 and a blue Volkswagen Caddy were involved in the collision.

Two other men, aged in their 30s, were taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries.

One man was in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast where his condition had been described as “stable”. The other was taken to Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry and has since been discharged.

Inspector Graham said: “We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who was travelling in this area of the A1 around 5.30pm on Tuesday, We can be contacted on 101, quoting ref: 744 011215.”
