77-year-old mugging victim had been told to drop her handbag

Police have today released more details of last Friday afternoon’s broad daylight robbery of a pensioner at Barrack Street in Armagh, which resulted in the arrest of a 24-year-old woman.
The 77-year-old victim had been walking along Barrack Street at around 3.30pm when a female came up behind her and pressed something into her back, telling her to drop her bag.
The female snatched the handbag and ran off in the direction of Victoria Street. The victim was not injured but left badly shaken.
Police attended and a description of the culprit was circulated.
Officers on patrol observed a female matching the description in the Victoria Street area a short time later.
She was stopped and the stolen handbag was located close by.
The 24-year-old woman was arrested for robbery.
She was later released on bail pending further enquiries.
