Six ways to keep the learning going and imagination flowing in Co Armagh this summer

Summer can be long when it seems like there’s nothing going on, and all the learning stops.

But, why not keep the learning going and your child’s imagination flowing?

Armagh I have compiled a list of places to visit across the county to help you make the most of the school holidays:

Navan Fort

Navan fort is a forest park just outside of Armagh that promises to capture the hearts and minds of those who visit.

The fort has a manageable walk that is completely free and offers amazing scenery. It’s a great place to take the family for a day out and a simple, nice walk and maybe even a picnic!

The fort has plenty of history which adds to its atmosphere and intrigue.

Lurgan Park

Lurgan Park is the second largest park in Northern Ireland and is jam packed with things for the whole family to do!

It has various walks for all the family to enjoy alongside extremely well kept scenery and a host of wildlife.

The park also has an adventure playground with sandpits – and for those who partake in fishing there are plenty of stands to use.

Lurgan park has all its bases covered and it shows!

The Palace Stables

The Palace Stables is everything a good park should be, close by and convenient with a wealth of green space and plenty to see and do.

The popular circular walk takes in the ice-house, landscaped gardens, the wildlife pond and the forest area.

The Library

The Library is very different from most other places on this list, but is just as good (if not better!).

The library is useful for children and parents alike, because they carry books for all ages.

Most parents can spend hours trying to persuade their children to read, but if you work it into a day out it could make it a whole lot less difficult… or – as a parent -you could walk home with fifty books for you, and you only!

County Armagh Museum

The Museum is fascinating and – just like the library – it provides an experience that can be both fun and engaging.

The museum focuses on local history, fine art, archaeology and natural history. This variety of subjects offers something for everyone, meaning the whole family will be captivated, while also learning about the amazing, interesting and long history of the county we live in.

Slieve Gullion Forest Park

Slieve Gullion Forest Park is a staple of all the parks in Armagh.

Between the beautiful scenery and the play area that you could while the hours away.

Along the nature walks children can spot fairy houses decorating the trees promising to keep everyone interested.

The park also boasts several picnic tables to grab a quick bite to eat before you embark on your journey into the scenic walks.
