Armagh City and District Council and Banbridge District Council have awarded a contract worth £309,000 for the installation of new fitness equipment to Mc Sport.
The new Precor fitness equipment will be installed at the Orchard Leisure Centre, Tandragee Recreation Centre and Banbridge Leisure Centre.
The Precor fitness equipment includes treadmills, elliptical trainers, Adaptive Motion Trainers, climbers and bikes. The equipment provides a personalised fitness experience through specifically designed Preva Technology, allowing you to track your fitness progress or surf the web while exercising with an easy to use touch screen.
Some of the equipment is Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) accredited, meaning disabled as well as non-disabled people can benefit from a full body, cardiovascular and resistance-based workout.
Cathy Rafferty, Lord Mayor of Armagh City and District, welcomed the new equipment, saying: “The new Precor equipment at Tandragee Recreation Centre and the Orchard Leisure Centre will be a fantastic boost, benefiting the health and well-being of local residents and leading to a more enjoyable workout.”
Philip McLaughlin, Director of McSport commented: “We were delighted to win the contract to supply the Precor fitness equipment to the three centres and we are pleased to be part of the development plans.”
The Fitness Suites will be closed for the removal of existing equipment and the installation of new equipment on the following dates, Tandragee Recreation Centre Monday, December 8, and Tuesday, December 9, and the Orchard Leisure Centre Wednesday, December 10, Thursday, December 11 and Friday, December 12.
To celebrate the launch of the new equipment, the Orchard Leisure Centre and Tandragee Leisure Centre have special membership offers available, further details of these and the new Precor equipment are available on www.armagh.gov.uk/leisure
