£100,000 funding for Newry children’s art project

Newry Armagh Assembly Members Mickey Brady and Megan Fearon have welcomed a commitment of £100,000 funding from the Department of Culture for Sticky Fingers Children’s Art Project.

The funding, which is subject to the approval of a business case, will be allocated to the ‘Small Size, Big Citizen’ festival which Sticky Fingers is delivering in Newry in February 2014.

Megan Fearon said: “The commitment of this substantial funding package is further evidence of Minister Carál Ní Chuilín’s dedication to the arts in the Newry area.

“I brought Minister Ní Chuilín to visit Sticky Fingers in August and I know that she was extremely impressed with the work which the project is involved in.

“I am delighted that this additional funding will be going to such a deserving children’s organisation.”

Mickey Brady added: “The Small Size, Big Citizen’ festival will bring a significant influx of visitors to Newry and I think that it is very important that these visitors have as positive an experience of our city as possible.

“This £100,000 from DCAL will enable Sticky Fingers to provide an event better itinerary.  I wish everyone involved well with the project.”
