McConville, Margaret.
The sons, daughters, sister, brother and family circle of the late Margaret McConville would like to thank all those who sympathised with them on their recent sad bereavement.
Our special thanks to those who sent Mass cards, sympathy cards, letters, text messages, posted condolences on RIP. ie and on funeral notice sites, posted tributes on Social Media and to the many people who attended the wake and the funeral to pay their respects.
Grateful thanks to the many Health Professionals who cared for Margaret, especially during the last few years. To the doctors and nurses past and present and to the clerical staff in both Rathkeeland House and the Health Centre, Crossmaglen, for your care and support including the many house calls carried out.
We sincerely thank the ‘Hospital Care At Home’ team who enabled Margaret to remain at home in her final week, and for the invaluable guidance and care of the local District Nurses and Evora Hospice end of life staff, during her final few days. A special mention also to her team of Carers from the Southern Trust and Enable Services who built up a special relationship with Margaret and whom she regarded as her friends and trusted guardians. We are forever grateful to you. Our thanks also to the staff at Daisy Hill, Craigavon Area Hospital and Cloughreagh House who attended mum with such care and tenderness over the last few years. Thank you also to McConville’s Pharmacy Staff for their constant support.
To Father Dermot Moloney P.P. for his frequent pastoral visits to the house, for his sensitivity, caring and comforting prayers in Margaret’s final week and for the continuous support he provided to the family. For his delivery of the funeral Mass and for his consoling homily and prayers at the burial service, we thank him sincerely. Our gratitude also to Concelebrants Fr. Carey and Fr. McAleer, and to the Eucharistic Ministers.
Our grateful thanks to Dearbhla, Joanne and Paddy for the beautiful singing and accompanying music at the Funeral Mass, to John Glenn for his lovely tribute at the graveside and to the grave attendants.
To our fellow Gaels throughout the country and to all the Clubs who offered their Condolences and called to the house, we thank you all. To her own Club, Crossmaglen Rangers, for their many acts of kindness including the provision of parking facilities and refreshments for those attending the wake and the funeral. For all the male and female Football teams and the Camogie teams past and present, Management teams, Club Members and Supporters who visited the house and who formed Guards of Honour and carried the coffin along the route, you did her proud. To her colleagues in the Social Club and the Executive Committee and to the Lotto Committee who were all dear friends to her and who cared deeply about her, we thank you.
Our thanks to the Armagh County Board, the senior players and Management teams, past and present, who attended Margaret’s wake and funeral and who helped carry her coffin. To the Armagh Ladies Football team for their attendance at the wake to pay their respects. Thank you also to the many stewards and referees throughout the County and beyond who recounted the many times she provided tea and hospitality on match days. Thank you to Ulster Council President Michael Geoghegan and to all the Ulster council members and representatives past and present and to the GAA President Jarlath Burns, and former Presidents Larry McCarthy and Aogan O’Fearghail for their attendance.
Also to the personnel of the footballing and hurling fraternity from all over the country and to Journalists, media personnel and pundits from several outlets, who have made their acquaintance with Margaret down through the years, we thank you for your presence at her wake and funeral.
A special mention to the Tailteann Cup winning Wicklow team, backroom staff and County Board who came to the wake, who carried the coffin and to the many supporters who posted messages on RIP. ie from the County.
Thank you so much to the staff of St. Joseph’s High School, Crossmaglen, particularly Michael, Caretaker and Secretary Majella for their consideration and kindness in allowing us to use the car park. Thank you to the many people connected to the School including all the canteen staff who worked with Margaret and the teachers and staff who knew her and husband Patsy when they both worked there, for your attendance.
Thank you also to her lifelong friends from The Square, Culloville Road and Dundalk Road for their unwavering support and thoughtfulness. To the many visitors who brought food to the house. To the retailers and the various hospitality outlets both in Cross and further afield who were so generous in providing food for the wake and also for the family. We are forever grateful for your kindness. To Mona, Aoibheann and Fionnuala McEntee and their brilliant team of workers for providing sustenance during the wake and for serving the meal in the Club after the funeral. All very much appreciated.
Our very special thanks to McConville Funeral Directors, to Brendan, Paddy, Jack and Larry for your help, your attention to detail, your guidance, your advice, sensitivity and support to the family and the dignified way in which you conducted Margaret’s funeral. We are forever indebted to you for the great send off afforded to Margaret.
We would like to acknowledge the role of the Piper, Paddy, and the many and varied groups who lined the route to the Chapel, including shops, businesses, St Patrick’s Primary School staff and pupils, Carers, Health Centre Staff, neighbouring GAA Clubs, our Club personnel, our young Rangers, neighbours, friends and many more. She would have loved it.
We also wish to sincerely thank Margarets’ sons and daughters in law, her grandchildren and their partners, to her nieces and nephews and to her extended family and friends for the tireless work you did during the very busy last week of Margaret’s life. We are also grateful to all those who made donations to Evora Hospice.
As it would be impossible to thank everybody individually, we hope this acknowledgement will be accepted as a token of our appreciation and thanks. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for the intentions of all.
