Acknowledgement for the late Gerard Rafferty (Keady)

Rafferty, Gerard.

The family of the late Gerard Rafferty (Madden and Keady) have requested that this acknowledgement is posted in gratitude and appreciation.

Gerard’s son, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces and wider family circle wish to thank all those who sympathised with them during their recent bereavement.

To all our wonderful family, friends and kind neighbours whose help and support was invaluable over the wake and funeral.

To all those who attended the wake, brought mass cards, telephoned, messaged or posted online their condolences, we assure you these were greatly appreciated. We thank also the many individuals and businesses who brought gifts of food to the wake house and to those who offered floral tributes.

No words seem adequate to express our deepest thanks to those who attended Gerard at his sudden passing, especially Keady First Responders and to the Emergency services.

We thank most sincerely the staff of Ann’s Homecare and to his GP and surgery team. But equally we acknowledge with gratitude all of Gerard’s good friends who looked out for him over the past year and you all know who you are.

Massive thanks to the Keady and Tassagh Roads Bowls and indeed to the wider Road Bowls Association for your presence, guard of honour and for carrying Gerard’s coffin. Also to the GAA fraternity and in particular Madden Raparees GAC for your very reverent guard of honour.

We thank the priests of the parish and especially Fr Sean O’Neill for your pastoral care of us as a family and for celebrating a very personal and fitting funeral mass. Thanks also to all those who participated in the mass and in particular Brian Grimley and Thomas Mackle who give wonderful, personal reflections.

To Chris Mallon, Annie and Dermot McCusker for the exceptional music which enhanced the mass and to Michael Hughes for the sacristan duties. We thank Ann of Armagh Blooms for the grave arrangements and to Richard for digging the grave.

Finally, to Bridget and BJ of Mone Funeral Directors for organising and professionally managing all the funeral arrangements and to Madden Community Centre and to the Ladies Committee for the post burial refreshments.

At the risk of failing to mention someone we trust this acknowledgement will be accepted by all as a sincere token of our appreciation.

Gerard’s Month Mind Mass will be held in St Joseph’s Church Madden on Friday February 2, at 7pm.
