Acknowledgement for the late Denis Hughes

Hughes, Denis.

We, the family of Denis Hughes, wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to all who offered support following the passing of our dear father on October 31, 2025.

We were deeply comforted and strengthened by the love and kindness shown by our extended family, friends, and neighbours, and by all who attended the wake and funeral. Your expressions of sympathy, your Mass cards, and your presence brought great comfort to us during our time of grief.

We extend our sincere thanks to Fr. McHugh for attending to Dad at home throughout his illness and in his final days, and to both Fr. McHugh and Fr. Hughes for celebrating the beautiful and dignified Requiem Mass.

We are also grateful to our friends, family, and neighbours for their help during the preparations for, and throughout, the wake, and to all who brought food and refreshments, including Cordelia’s, for kindly providing meals for the family and helpers.

Our heartfelt thanks also go to the wonderful musicians who contributed so beautifully to the funeral Mass: Eilis Fox for her exceptional singing, accompanied by the talented Patrick Slevin on piano; Alice O’Hare for her moving rendition of Danny Boy on the tin whistle; and Kevin McBride for leading us so poignantly on the bagpipes before and after the funeral Mass. Dad would have loved every moment.

We wish to thank Martin Kelly, Funeral Director, and his team for the dignity and professionalism with which they carried out the funeral arrangements.

Our appreciation also extends to Eileen Keegan and Micky Casey for their ongoing work in preparing and maintaining the chapel, as well as to Brian Nugent, the gravedigger, and the graveyard committee for their continued dedication to the upkeep and enhancement of the cemetery so we have a lovely place to lay our loved ones to rest.

We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to Bernie McKinney of Trimprints, who went out of her way to ensure the timely preparation of the Mass booklet over the weekend prior to the funeral Mass on Monday.

Our thanks are also extended to Bronach and her team for preparing the parochial hall and providing refreshments following the funeral Mass.

With deep gratitude, we acknowledge the medical professionals who cared for Dad, including the staff of Craigavon Area Hospital, the District Nursing Team, the Acute Care at Home Team, the Friary Surgery, and both the Domiciliary, Rutledge and Marie Curie care teams.

We also thank all who kindly made donations to Chest, Heart & Stroke and to Marie Curie in dads memory.

A celebration of Mass will be offered for all your intentions.

Dinny’s Month’s Mind Mass will take place in St. Jarlath’s Church, Clonfeacle, on Saturday, 29 November, at 1.00 pm.
