Pedestrian killed in hit and run in Dungannon

Hunt for driver who fled scene

A male pedestian has died after a hit and run in Dungannon, police have confirmed.

It happened on the Killyman Road, close to its junction with Cunninghams Lane on Tuesday night.

It was reported that the male was struck by an unknown vehicle which failed to stop at the scene.

Police were alerted at around 7.50pm and emergency services attended the scene.

They confirmed the fatality this morning and appealed for help to find the driver.

Inspector John McKenna has appealed to anyone who was travelling on the road around the time of the collision and who witnessed anything, or anyone who has any information, to come forward.

He has urged them to contact police in Dungannon or the Collision Investigation Unit quoting reference 1263/30 January.

The road has now reopened to traffic.
