Witnesses sought as thieves make off with jewellery haul

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following the report of a burglary at a residential premises in the Ashley Heights area of Portadown.

It was reported that between the hours of 7.20pm and 9.45pm on Thursday, February 16, entry was forced to a residential premises in the Ashley Heights area of Portadown through the back door of the property.

As a result of the break in a number jewellery items were taken including a gold ring with amethyst and pearl, three gold sapphire rings, a gold bracelet with rubies and pearls, several gold rings as well as a Black Canon AE1 camera.

Detective Constable Victoria Holmes said: “We are appealing to anyone that may have any information or to anyone that may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area at the time or to anyone that may have been offered similar items for sale in suspicious circumstances to contact detective in Lurgan Reactive and Organised Crime Branch on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1276 of the 16/02/17.

“Or, alternatively if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
