Witness appeal to RTC after boy (11) struck by Mercedes

Police in Newry are appealing for information following a road traffic collision in which an 11-year-old was struck by a car.

Constable McGaffin explained said police received a report of a collision, involving a blue Mercedes, at the Buttercrane Shopping Centre at around 4.15pm last Monday, March 2.

An 11-year-old male pedestrian was injured during the collision and was taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

During the incident a female passed her phone, a black Nokia Classic, to a member of the public and did not retrieve it.

Constable McGaffin added: “We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about the whereabouts of the phone. We can be contacted in Ardmore on 101, quoting ref: 844020315.”
