Weather postpones Mullahead Plough Match!

ORGANISERS of the annual Mullahead Ploughing Match have revealed tonight (Saturday) that this year’s big event – the 99th such match – is to be postponed.
It was due to go ahead in a fortnight at the Richardson Estate at Moyallon, near Portadown, but, as the picture shows, the venue has been left in a saturated state.
The event annually draws thousands of spectators and participants and is backed by retail giant Tesco.
William McCracken Jnr, secretary of the Mullahead and District Ploughing Society, said: “It  is with regret that Mullahead & District Ploughing Society have to announce the postponement of the annual match scheduled for Saturday, February 23, 2013.
“The new date for the match has been set for Saturday, March 23, 2013. This postponement is due to recent weather conditions. All current entries stand unless notified otherwise.”
Mr McCracken urged the public to share details of the difficult but necessary decision to inform as many as possible who had planned to attend.
