Police urge vigilance after burglaries in Markethill and Armagh this week

A family home in Armagh City was burgled tonight – while the owners were visiting Santa’s Grotto!

Police said the incident happened in the Old Park/Cathedral Road area.

Police also confirmed later that two arrests had been made in relation to burglary in the Armagh area.

This was just the latest in a spate of local incidents.

On Tuesday, two burglaries were reported to police in the Markethill area.

The intruders helped themselves to numerous items of jewellery.

The PSNI in Armagh is urging vigilance and for the public to report anything out of the usual.

They issued advice via Facebook saying: “We are asking the public to keep an eye out on these dark evenings and report any suspicious behaviour.

“We can’t stress enough that we need the eye and ears of the public. If you think it’s odd or not right then so will we. Leave it to us to ask the those questions in person.

“Note registrations and give us a good description and the direction of travel.”
