Opportunist thieves strip digger of parts in south Armagh

Opportunist thieves stripped and made off with parts of a digger in south Armagh.

Police are appealing for information following the theft from a sports ground in the Dorsey Road area near Cullyhanna.

Sometime between 4.30pm on Saturday, February 13 and 4.30pm on Sunday, February 14, a number of parts including orange ram linkages, an orange bucket ram, an orange lift ram, two orange side panels and all windows were stolen.

Constable Chris Wolfe said: “It would have taken some time to remove all of these items and the people involved would have needed some sort of large vehicle to be able to transport all them.

“I would ask anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area, or who knows anything about this theft, to contact Newtownhamilton Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 884 of 14/02/16.

“Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
