Man injured after shots fired through window of Co Armagh home

Incident happened shortly before 11pm last night

A man was injured after shots were fired through a county Armagh home last night (Sunday).

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident which happened in the Ashleigh Crescent area of Lurgan around 10.45pm.

PSNI say a man who was in the house at the time sustained a cut to his neck in the incident.

It is unclear at how serious that injury is at this stage.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or may have any information to contact detectives in Lurgan on 101 quoting the reference number 1461 of May 7.

DUP MLA Carla Lockhart has condemned the attack.

“My thoughts are with all those involved particularly the young man injured,” she said:

“I am thankful that he has been discharged however the entire event must be highly traumatising for all involved.

“To have a home targeted in this way is worrying for the entire community.  Ashleigh Crescent is a quiet residential area and residents are shocked at this turn of events. I would condemn this attack and this type of reckless activity.

“I have been liaising with the PSNI throughout the night and will be meeting them this morning.  They are following a line of enquiry but are appealing for the public’s help. I would encourage anyone with information to come forward to the PSNI, confidentially or via the 101 or 999 services.

“Thankfully this morning we are not dealing with a fatality. These gunshots could have killed.”
