‘Graphic’ message daubed on flat being treated as hate crime

A graphic message painted on the side of a block of flats in Co Armagh is being considered as a hate crime.

Police are investigating the incident which happened in Taghnevan area of Lurgan overnight on Wednesday.

An SDLP spokesperson said: “Within the last 24 hours a graphic message has been written on a fence in Taghnevan Drive and on Block 10 of Dingwell Park.

“We have reported this as a hate crime to the PSNI.

“The Northern Ireland Housing Executive has been informed and has raised an emergency job to have these messages removed today (Thursday).

“There is no place whatsoever for behaviour like this in our society.”
