Police have issued an appeal to find the couple who intervened during a vicious New Year’s Day assault in Co Armagh.
The pair jumped in to stop the victim taking further punishment outside a takeaway in Lurgan.
The 42-year-old victim was discovered at around 2.40am on the ground on nearby Alexandra Crescent with serious injuries to his head.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service before being taken to hospital.
A spokesperson from PSNI Craigavon said: “There is currently a man lying in a hospital bed with serious head injuries after a vicious assault on New Years Eve into New Years Day.
“We believe there were a male and female couple who intervened and helped the victim, possibly saving him from much worse. We would very much like to speak to them.”
Detective Inspector Stephen Harvey said: “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone with information which could assist with our investigation, to contact detectives in Lurgan on 101 quoting reference number 269 of 01/01/18.”
