Kind-hearted SRC students make ‘care packs’ for charities to distribute to homeless

Kind-hearted students at the Southern Regional College have been doing their bit to ‘help the homeless’.

The Princes Trust Team programme at the Newry campus have been involved in this community project to help improve conditions for those in need.

The team made 81 care packs which contained a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, gloves, a hat and various ‘Keep yourself safe’ pamphlets.

The care packs were distributed to The Simon Community and Women’s Aid where they will be given out to the homeless people for Christmas.

The products were kindly donated by Dunnes Stores and Semi-Chem.

There were also collection points around the Southern Regional College.

Princes Trust Team Leader Paul Baxter said: “The students worked very hard in not only identifying the project but in collecting and packing the care packs for the organisations. It gave them great satisfaction when we presented the packs to Women’s Aid and The Simon community as they knew people will be helped directly.”
