Cousins Marie and Ciara in skydive fundraiser for renal unit in memory of their granda

JustGiving page set up to 'give back' to hospital for love and care shown

Marie Curry and Ciara Conlon will undertake the skydive on June 24 for the Daisy Hill Hospital Renal Unit.

Two Co Armagh cousins are preparing to take part in a skydive fundraiser in memory of their much-loved grandfather.

Marie Curry and Ciara Murphy will complete their hair-raising charity effort on Sunday, June 24.

And they will do so for a cause close to their hearts – the Renal Unit at Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry.

The cousins have set up a JustGiving page and are urging everyone to show their support for a very worthy cause.

Marie, from Madden, told Armagh I : “We are doing it in memory of our granda. The kindness and support the unit gave us was incredible.”

Both young ladies wanted to give something back as a ‘thank-you’ and in memory of their Granda Curry, who had suffered with kidney problems.

Added Marie: “The Renal Unit at Daisy Hill Hospital treats patients with kidney disease from across the entire Southern Trust area.

“The modern unit has 26 haemodialysis stations and 40 machines, which are used by 90 patients each week.

“This treatment is life changing for patients.”

All donations made will benefit others living in the local community who must attend the unit at Newry.

“All funds raised will go directly to the Daisy Hill Hospital Renal Unit and will be used to purchase items of equipment for the benefit of the unit and additional amenities to help improve patient comfort,” explained Marie.

“The skydive will be on June 24th and we would really appreciate people’s help with fundraising – every penny counts!”

You can show your support to Marie and Ciara and help them raise a fantastic amount by making a donation through their dedicated JustGiving page – no matter how big or small, it will all go a long way to making a difference.
