Police in Newtownhamilton are appealing for witnesses following the assault of the man in his 60s in the Charlemont Square East area of Bessbrook just before 11pm.

“This male spoke to him before assaulting him and making off with the carrycot and its contents. The victim is believed to have suffered facial injuries.
“The assailant is described as being around 5’ 6” in height, of heavy build and having a local accent.
“We would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area late last night to get in touch with police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1373 of 19/4/17.
