Athlete’s hopes of international appearance jeopardised by theft

A carbon fibre Paralympic blade has been stolen from a vehicle in County Monaghan, not far from the border with south Armagh.

Garda have appealed for help in recovering item, taken from a car in Clones sometime overnight on Friday into yesterday, Saturday.

Garda say the blade is a custom fit for the owner and is of no use to any other person.

The blade is for a left lower limb and similar to that pictured.

The owner is due to take part in an international athletics meeting in Berlin in 10 days time and will be unable to participate if the blade is not recovered.

Gardai are appealing for any information concerning the theft of the blade and are seeking the safe return of the blade. Any information to Monaghan Gardai at 047 77200 or the Garda confidential number 1800 666 111
