Roof blown off building hits minibus and Tesco sends staff home as high winds continue

This was the scene in Warrenpoint as Storm Ali ripped the roof off a nearby building.

This happened on the main road into the harbour town, with the debris clipping a minibus full of people.

The bus wasn’t severely damaged and was able to continue on its journey.

The road has since been closed.

Elsewhere, Tesco store in Craigavon have sent staff home over fears for safety as the amber weather warning remains in place right through until 5pm today.

A number of schools have also been sent home; some without electricity, while others have been damaged in the storm.

Nursery Road and Mullinure Lane have been particularly affected by fallen trees with the former expected to remain closed for a number of hours yet.
