Community anger at ‘disgusting’ fly-tipping near Armagh

'This is simply disrepect for our beautiful countryside and rural dwellers'

Another incident of fly-tipping on the outskirts of Armagh as it appears the message still is not getting through.

The rubbish on this occasion was dumped along the Keady/Newtownhamilton Road, those behind it simply picking the lazy option.

Passersby reported it to the SDLP locally who brought it to the attention of officials of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, to be cleared.

SDLP representative Seamus Livingstone said: “There can be no excuse for this disgusting action as the rubbish would have been accepted at any of the council’s recycling centres.

“This is simply disrepect for our beautiful countryside and rural dwellers.”

And councillor Sharon Haughey-Grimley also hit out at those responsible, branding their actions as “disgusting behaviour”.

Meanwhile, in Craigavon a car was burnt out and left on the Monbrief Road.

SDLP representative Thomas Larkham said: “I have contacted agencies responsible to have these removed as soon as possible!

“This is another incident of total disregard for the area and the ratepayer will once again pick up the bill for clearing this.

“My first attempt failed, but I am calling again for CCTV to be installed at this fly-tipping hotspot in Craigavon to help kerb this unsightly problem.

“Anyone with information about the burnt out car please report to the PSNI on 101.”
