Businessman hopes to replace Armagh eyesore with new commercial premises

Plans have been submitted to tear the building down

Railway Street, Armagh

A derelict commercial unit in Armagh city centre could be demolished and replaced.

The property, at 10 Railway Street in the city, has been in a state of disrepair for many years now.

But now a local businessman is seeking planning permission to tear it down – and built a new commercial unit in its place.

An application for the work has been submitted by Joe Macari to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.

The unit is a single storey development and the plans – if given the go-ahead – would see a new two-bedroom apartment built above it.

The vacant commercial unit holds a prominent position on what is a mainly residential street and would do much to improve the visual amenity of the area.
